Camping Holidays in France

Camping holidays in France have become a more attractive option than ever with the current economic crises. A camping holiday is a far cheaper way to spend your time off work than staying in hotels or apartments, but it is just as an effective way of seeing a country and experiencing the wonders of nature as the other options.

In addition to camping holidays being a much cheaper option, camping sites in France have also improved a great deal in recent years, offering more facilities and home comforts than ever before. Nonetheless, if you have not been camping for some time, getting some good advice on planning the best trip is a good idea.

If you have decided that a camping trip to France is going to be your next holiday, then choosing the best region of the country to go to is the next step.

All of the different holidaying areas have their unique attractions but Brittany beats all for best value for money, especially for those with families. The driving distances from the UK are much shorter than the rest of France and there are a great variety of family-friendly attractions, and, most importantly, a decent selection of campsites.

Regardless of where you decide to go in France, planning your trip remains largely the same. Most camp sites are open between May and September. July and August are the best times of year to go with regards to the weather, and there are usually more entertainment options on the campsites. If you want a quieter option, however, then May or June might be preferable and the weather is still very pleasant.

Packing for such a trip partly depends on what type of campsite you are going to. Most of the campsites in Brittany have everything you would expect and more including barbeques so you will not need to bring a lot of this extra equipment that you would normally expect to take with you.

There are still things you should always take such as sleeping gear and towels, but it is worth making sure first with the provider of your holiday that these amenities are not already supplied. Basic toiletries, of course, should always be bought with you, but cooking equipment will likely be supplied already.

Other things that you should take with you are a first aid kit, sun cream, bug repellent and some basics like a torch and matches. Of course, there will almost certainly be an onsite shop if you forget to bring anything.

All being set, you should be ready for a great camping holiday to France!
